The Notts County boss said “I thought they were the better side from start to finish,

“We just didn’t get going. We didn’t really handle their strengths. They played a lot of long balls and chased it down and we weren’t really on it.

“There are no excuses really because we’ve been beaten by the better side.

“You have to give credit to the opposition, but there were a lot of things we could have done better with a lot more efficiency.

“But I don’t think I can knock the lads’ attitude and application to the game. I just think they looked a bit sharper and they were buoyed by a good crowd.

“They wanted to beat the top of the table side. They’ve beaten us on one day.

“We’ve had a fantastic run and it can’t take away from what we have achieved over this last week.

“Most Notts fans would have taken six points out of nine given this three-game week, and we have to respect that.

“We didn’t do a lot of things we normally do.”
