Vale rule out a move for returning midfielder

Back with the club: Mackenzie will have to fight for a place in County's midfield.
Valiants boss, Dean Glover has revealed that he will not be taking County's creative midfielder, Neil Mackenzie back to Burslem.

The successful Countdown contestant, who signed on a month's loan back in November, made just three appearances in Vale colours before being recalled by Ian McParland at the weekend.

During his stay, Mackenzie sustained a rib injury that has restricted his involvement over the past couple of weeks.

This has caused Glover to look elsewhere in order to strengthen his midfield.

When deciding not to renew the loan deal, he explained: "I'm going to leave it at that with Neil because I want Dave Brammer here, and with Scott Brown already signed it gives me a bit more ammunition in midfield."

It appeared that Mackenzie was hoping of a permanent contract at the club but this now looks unlikely.

In the mean time, he will have to fight it out to earn a place in Notts' struggling central unit over the coming weeks, unless another move can be arranged.
