Up-town Gill on his way

The signing of departing Peterborough midfielder Matthew Gill is now completed for Gary Mills and his band of merry men as the adaptable youngster, available on a free transfer after turning-down a new-deal at London Road, passed a medical at Meadow Lane this afternoon.

Matthew Gill- Now a Notts player
The 23-year old, who played a key role in Peterborough's successful relegation battle, put pen-to-paper at the 'Lane late this afternoon after Barry Fry's admittedly reluctant decision to allow both parties to part company, close to eight years after Gill signed his first professional deal at the club. The news precedes that another midfielder and a striker, and NCM understands Onandi Lowe could be the target, are also expected to sign within the next few days.

The move came about following much chasing from Mills and, despite 30 appearances across the campaign for Posh, Gill's desire for a move elsewhere for an extended first-team run - something which he believes will be commonplace here.

Gill will arrive at Meadow Lane bringing with him vast experience, belying of his younger years, having already made 128 appearances for his former employers, as well as versatility that was lost with the release of Ian Baraclough and the like.

A microscope look of Matthew Gill will be online over the weekend.
