Stags swoop for Palmer!

Curle has been suspended by Stags chairman Keith Haslam, though no reason has been given for the decision.

Arsene, eat your heart out.
And, in true comedic fashion, the Mansfield chairman has appointed Carlton Palmer- about as effective in management as he was during his England playing career- in temporary charge.

The Stags chairman commented to the NEP: "I have asked Carlton Palmer to come in until the situation is sorted out."

Contrary to reports, though, Curle's assistant John Gannon has not been suspended and will attempt to assist (guide) Palmer.

Mansfield looked far and away one of the best sides we've faced this season when they demolished us 3-1 at Field Mill a few weeks back.

But the yellow-brigade haven't won a game since, and are now just 3 points ahead of the revitalised Notts County, who- under the guidance of Ian Richardson- now look set to topple their neighbours once again.

Meanwhile, should Curle be sacked, NCM could think of far worse suitors for the job vacated by Gary Mills a week ago..
