Rico: How we didn't win, I do not know!

Last updated : 20 February 2005 By Richard Brown

After a match where the Magpies were nothing short of rampant, if not a little off-target, many will feel that Ian Richardson’s disappointment is completely warranted.

Hurst: Missed some sitters
Richardson's men, who dominated with double the amount of shots on goal as their visitors, carved out chance, after chance, after chance without breaching the Rushden defence.

And when the Magpies finally took their chance, not only did it come from the penalty spot, it was not before their visitors had taken the initiative with one of just five efforts on goal throughout the match.

And if the bitter pill of discontentment was not hard enough to swallow for the Notts manager, then the small matter of injuries to his side could only have turned the knife further into the side of Richardson.

Speaking to the Nottingham Evening yesterday, Richo said "I've no idea how we didn't win. We had so many chances we deserved three points from the first-half performance alone."

"I've spoken to the surgeon and Gavin's [Gordon] broken his jaw and could be out for the rest of the season,"

"It's looking grim because Mike Whitlow has a knee problem, Paul Bolland got a kick on the ankle and Rob Ullathorne has a groin injury."
