Platt has verbally agreed to join Notts for next season following his release from Rochdale, but, until the takeover situation is sorted at Meadow Lane he cannot commit himself to the club by signing a contract.

Last week it was revealed that Grimsby had offered the 25 year old a 3 year deal, but Platt has reported for training with The Magpies and Dearden believes Notts are "in the driving seat" to sign the 6ft 4 forward.

"We are relying on Clive having patience and trusting my word really." Dearden told the Evening Post.

"He has been training with us, but things are still up in the air a little bit. And they will remain that way until he can actually sign a contract.

"He has spoken to other clubs, but it does appear that he wants to stay with us, that is certainly the impression gives when you speak to him."
He added.
