Last week it was revealed that Grimsby had offered the 25 year old a 3 year deal, but Platt has reported for training with The Magpies and Dearden believes Notts are "in the driving seat" to sign the 6ft 4 forward.
"We are relying on Clive having patience and trusting my word really." Dearden told the Evening Post.
"He has been training with us, but things are still up in the air a little bit. And they will remain that way until he can actually sign a contract.
"He has spoken to other clubs, but it does appear that he wants to stay with us, that is certainly the impression gives when you speak to him." He added.
