Palmer joins the Magpies

20-year-old Palmer was released by Division One side, Derby County last week and has today agreed terms at Notts which will keep him at Meadow Lane for the next two years.

Palmer is a left sided full-back, who can also perform in midfield- so his versatility will provide more options for boss Mills.

The youngster signed for the Rams as a trainee but failed to make a single appearence for his hometown club, and
has failed to earn himself a new contract at Pride Park. The left sider's only first-team experience came when he spent a month on-loan at Conference side Hereford United where he made three appearances for the West Country outfit.

“I hope to play as many games as I can next term and help the club get promotion back to Division Two.

I'm really looking forward to the chance of playing regular first-team football.

I took it as a positive when I left Derby
, I thought I had a good season there but it was a good place to learn and I will use it as a stepping stone.” Palmer told www.skysports.com

This is the third signing of the close season already, despite the season only finishing last Saturday, after winger Tony Scully agreed to a new two year contract and also former Sheffield United veteran Mike Whitlow agreeing to put pen to paper on a contract with the Magpies.

And as reported on the Club's Official Website earlier today, more signings are imminent according to Mills' new assistant, Darron Gee.

NCM will, ofcourse, keep you up to date with all the new signings as and when they happen.
