The pacy Dutchman set himself high standards when first signing for Notts in June 2001 from RBC Roosendaal, giving a man of the match performance against West Ham United in a pre-season game and scoring a superb strike against Port Vale, while later on in the season he scored a superb 40 yard volley at Brighton & Hove Albion.

His form dipped last season after a promising start, and he faded from the first team picture and was allowed to leave for Sheffield United in February 2003 on a free transfer.

Marcel will of course be back at Meadow Lane next season, as he signed for Division Two newboys Grimsby Town a few weeks ago on a two year contract.

He recieved 33% of the votes followed by Richard Liburd with 23.9% and Tony Hackworth with 20%.

Danny Allsopp picked up 12.8%, loanee recieved Duncan Jupp 4.6%, Craig Ireland 2.8%, Stuart Garden 1.8% and finally Danny Stone with 0.9%.
