Experienced defender Tony started his career with Hartlepool United back in 1989 and made 16 appearances for the club before leaving on a free transfer to team up with Stockport County.

He made 137 appearances for The Hatters, scoring 5 goals and had by now made a name for himself as one of the lower Division's reliable centre halfs, and after a short spell with Rotherham in a loan deal he teamed up with York City, who he spent 5 years with.

He scored 15 goals for York, and made over 200 appearances before he departed to join Reading for £20,000 in March 1999 after a short loan spell. He made only 4 appearances following his permanent move to The Madjeski Stadium, and was released during the close season and joined Walsall on a free transfer.

Tony experienced promotion and relegation with The Saddlers, and made over 100 appearances and was a regular for Walsall last season but despite this he was released in the summer as Colin Lee looked to build a new squad for First Division football next season.

He did have a brief loan spell with Second Divison Plymouth Arygle last season, he made 4 appearances before returning to the Bescot Stadium.
