Michael is one of many during the last 6 years or so to have progressed through the Mansfield youth team to become a professional footballer, and he was handed his debut as a 19 year old in a 2-0 loss at Colchester for Steve Parkin's Mansfield Town.

The following season, 1998-1999, he made just one more appearance, that came against Scarborough on Boxing Day with The Stags winning 3-2, but despite just one appearance he was still highly rated at Field Mill.

1999-2000 saw Billy Dearden take over at Field Mill, and Michael was a regular to start off with under Dearden, before a few injuries ruled him out for a period of time, but when available he was usually in the starting line up and scored his first professional goal in a 4-0 win over Shrewsbury in September 1999.

He scored one more before the season was out, netting in the only goal in a 1-0 win at York City as The Stags finished midtable in their first year under Dearden.

2000-2001 saw Michael start the first five league games of the season before picking up a serious injury in a 0-0 draw at Exeter City that saw him miss the rest of the season, and in the end the whole of the next season.

Sisson was released by Mansfield boss Stuart Watkiss after he regained full fitness in a bid to find a new club and in February 2002 he teamed up with Notts on trial and featured in a number of reserve games towards the end of the season.

If he completes his move to Meadow Lane he will be hoping he can regain the form that made him such a promising propect at Field Mill, where he was praised for his workrate and tackling abilities.
