Langstaff said "I wasn't expecting it, we got the free-kick and I was on my back foot a little bit.
"I was caught sleeping and John shouted to me Macca, Macca and I thought he meant when the whistle goes I will try and get you in with a little reverse around the wall.
"I didn't expect him to give me it and when he did I didn't hear a whistle when normally if you take a quick free-kick you hear a whistle, the ball came to me and I turned and I have put it in and still think I have not scored because I am looking at the referee and the linesman, but no one said anything.
"When it left my foot, I thought it was going over but it dipped right at the end and hit the crossbar.
"The keeper may have had it covered, but I was trying my hardest to obviously break the National League record, I was disappointed not to score that one but happy to equal it."
