Luke Williams explains his tactics after defeat to Wimbledon

Williams said: “It doesn’t matter when you try to do something different tactically or with player selection - when you play without intensity and without toughness - that’s all irrelevant. It doesn’t matter if we played five at the back, six at the back or one at the back, you have to play with intensity.

"At the same time, if I’m not allowed to talk about my thoughts and processes as a manager through people wanting to mock me, then I would just come out and give yes and no answers to everything.”

“I’m just trying to clear up the way we want to do things because the fans come to watch and they want to at least know why we do the things we do. They’re entitled to disagree, but I can at least give an explanation, I could speak for an hour on something and they might still think I’m wrong, that’s brilliant.

“I at least owe it to them to tell them why, I don’t care that we scored from a corner [against Wimbledon] I’m only trying to explain why I try to do things the way I do, because it is their club. I’m here looking after it for the time being, but I just try to be honest and I’m sorry if I upset anyone with how much I talk.

“I see how many fans came [to Wimbledon] in the freezing cold so I make sure to spend a little time explaining things. I just want us to score and win in whatever way possible, and it is not me versus anyone, we’re just one Notts County together.”
