Liburd In Lincoln Trial

He was released by Billy Dearden in the summer after nearly five years with The Magpies, after Sam Allardyce signed the Nottingham born utility player back in 1998 on a free transfer.

Richard was a regular on the left hand side of midfield last season, but during his time at Notts he had played both right and left back, and also across the whole of the midfield, with his versatility making him a key member of the squad during the last few years.

His finest moment with Notts was surely his superb strike against Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup back in December 2000, when he flicked the ball over a defenders head with his right foot, before smashing a superb left foot volley into the net in extra time and set up a 3rd Round clash with Wimbledon.

He was troubled by a knee injury last season which didn't help his form, but battled on with Notts' squad down to the bare bones, before Billy Dearden decided his time was up and decided not to extend his contract.

Richard teamed up with Lincoln earlier this week for their tour of Northern Ireland, and featured in their pre-season victories over Cliftonville (4-0) and Portadown (3-0) this week.

He joined two other former Notts players currently with The Imps, with former striker Nigel Jemson also on trial, while another former striker Niall McNamara is on a non contract basis at Sincil Bank.
