Macari said “I remember Jim [O’Brien] just telling me to push on, which I did and Dan [Crowley] has just laid it off for me. I saw it coming and I just hit it - I actually thought the goalkeeper might’ve saved it at first because he got a hand to it but he put it into the side netting.
“After that, it was all a blur - I don’t even know what celebration I did but I was absolutely buzzing. I couldn’t believe it, to be honest, it was just an unbelievable moment for me.
“I remember just screaming and I was looking around at everyone’s faces in the crowd because it was my first league goal in English football. Scoring in Ireland was a great moment but this was even better and I think it was a better goal, I just hope I can get some more now.”
