"I don't think that's any secret to anybody.
"But we'll enter them (contract talks) when we feel the moment is right for both parties.
"At the moment, the biggest and most important thing for him is that he keeps playing good football and we always say football decides.
"He needs to keep delivering and then we go from there.
"Wootts knows how highly myself and the club value him.
"I think that's been seen by the leadership responsibilities he's got this season at a relatively young age.
"He's been extremely valuable since I've come in.
"It's no secret that is out of contract at the end of the season, but I'm sure if you ask Kyle, he really enjoys his football at Notts County.
"It shows from his performance in the way he carries himself every day that he's only focused to be here and when the time is right we bring up his future to him.
"But right now he just needs to think about playing football, scoring goals and nothing else really."
