Finnity: We're on track

There were rumours that a major financial backer in the Pavis consortium had pulled out, but Finnity insisted this was not the case.

Finnity also said the deal has a good chance of being completed in the next five days, avoiding the need for any extension from the Football League.

"I think it is very possible that we will be able to get things done without asking for an extension,"
Finnity told the Nottingham Evening Post.

"We are still working positively towards that. Things are moving forwards towards a positive solution.

"There have been no major problems with the process.

"The original backers for the Pavis consortium, if you want to call it that, are still in place.

"There have been a few minor things to resolve, as there always are with things like this, but nothing too serious.

"Nobody has pulled out, contrary to what some rumours have suggested."

Finnity also said Pavis' consortium deserve credit for getting as far as they have in such a short space of time.

"I do not want to talk about the deal in detail but the fact is these people were forced to take action on August 4,"
he said.

"And they have done well to get as far as they have done in the time that they have had.

"The fact is, nobody knows whether the Football League will give us an extension to the deadline or not, as the only people who can make the decision are the League board, who meet on Monday.

"But we are continuing to work on things."

Although we have heard Finnity speak of his "confidence" before, it is still encouraging to hear positive noises coming from the club.
