Finnity: The End Is Near

Last updated : 18 September 2003 By Rob Davies
Finnity said: "The club will be in good hands."

The administrator has been largely running the club since the collapse of the joint takeover bid by Frank Strang and Raj Bhattia, which failed at the end of July.

Peter Joyce and his fellow members in the Blenheim consortium have been putting all their efforts on finalising the deal to buy the club.

Finnity believes this sensible approach is a sign of encouragement.

"They haven't tried to come in and take control of everything," Finnity told the Nottingham Evening Post. "Largely, they have left the running of the club to the administrators.

"They have obviously been consulted when there have been major decisions to make and they would have been asked before anything was considered regarding the playing squad.

"But they realise that they have to get the bread-and- butter things sorted out before they move on to anything else.

"They are focusing all their attention on completion of the takeover before they worry about anything else."

If all goes to plan, third time lucky and all that, then the consortium will takeover the club on October 7th, the date of the next Football League meeting.

"It is just coincidence, but the business plan they put in place some time ago actually kick-starts in October,"
said Finnity.

Finnity says the new group will take charge immedetely after the deal is complete. And after 16 months he is happy to see light at the end of the tunnel.(A phrase we've also become used to)

"It has been a long hard slog but I have actually managed to get involved in other things in the last week or so," he said.

"I have been dealing with situations that are nothing to do with Notts County.

"Once the takeover is complete, it will largely be up to the new owners."
