Brough picked up a nasty thigh injury in last weeks win over Stockport, getting a deep cut which required stitches.

He missed the visit of Plymouth at the weekend, and could be back to face Wycombe at Adams Park on Saturday.

"He (Brough) hasn't had the stitches out of his leg yet, since his injury against Stockport last Tuesday," Magpies boss Billy Dearden told the Evening Post.

"But we are hopeful he could be back in time to feature at the weekend."

Meanwhile, Tony Hackworth will make a return today in a reserve friendly with Rushden & Diamonds, when just 3 weeks ago it looked like he would miss the rest of the season with a broken leg.

However, x-rays revealed there was no damage and surprisingly he is set to feature for the reserves today, and could make the 16 man squad for Saturday.

"Tony has been back in training for a few days now," said Billy Dearden.

"He has not had any adverse reactions since coming back.

"He will play in the reserves today. Paul Riley, Richard Holmes and Saul Deeney will all feature.

"But it would be a boost to have Tony back for the weekend."
