McGoldrick said: “I speak to some of the younger players in the squad now and there are a lot of young kids out there that think the best thing to focus on is the skills and the flashy things to become a professional footballer.
“It’s not about that, it’s hard work and your lifestyle that makes the difference.
"You’ve got to be in the gym and looking after yourself and you’ve got to be focused every day in training and try to get that one percent better every time.
“I didn’t have that mentality at the start of my career but I wish I did through my early to mid-20s up until now I’ve kept that mindset and it has stuck with me everywhere I’ve gone.
“You’ve got to look after yourself and want to be the best you can be.”
