Canham: The boss told me he would give me a kiss

By Dane Vincent
Sunday, 21st September 2008
Some of the post-match comments from yesterday's away draw with Exeter City...

Here are some of the quotes from Sean Canham and Ian McParland following yesterday's game with Exeter City.

Reward: McParland gave Canham his kiss...
Canham spoke of how he is being rewarded for his goals. He stated: "The boss told me to get a goal and he would give me a kiss." (News of the World)

McParland joked about Canham grabbing a late equaliser, saying: "I have given Sean his kiss. My only worry is that he scores again next week and I have to give him another!" (News of the World)

The Notts manager also slammed the team's display before the break. "We didn't do ourselves justice in the first-half and what I am really disappointed about is that the game was there to be won in the first-half," said McParland.

"We didn't do well but we got ourselves into great positions with the ball but we didn't make simple passes.

"And when we did, we didn't get quality balls into the box.

"We gave it away cheaply and it wasn't really acceptable in the first-half." (Nottingham Evening Post)

Scoring two in as many appearances, Canham declared that he is pleased with his current goal-scoring form. He said: "It's just falling for me at the moment.

"Delroy [Facey] and Jamie [Forrester] - they're running around and I'm just coming on and getting nice tap-ins, so I'll keep taking that!

"It's always nice because strikers like goals for confidence, and once on comes more seem to follow, and long may that run continue." (Magpie World)
