Who are ya? Paul Boertien

Last updated : 26 January 2004 By Richard Brown

Name: Paul Boertien

Date of Birth: 21st January 1979
Birth place:

Position: Defender/Midfielder [Left]

Boertien’s been somewhat deprived of first-team opportunities prior to his debut for Notts County yesterday, having only made the starting XI at Pride Park on just six occasions for the Rams this season. The wing-back’s latest quest for first team football brings him to Meadow Lane where he becomes the latest of Gary Mills’ new recruits.

And at just 25, Boertien has no-end of experience at various levels from the Premiership to the Third Division – experience which, even in his short-term one month loan stint, will be vital in the beginning what looks to be another tough relegation battle.

Boertien signed for the Rams from his home-town club, Carlisle United for a fee of £250,000 where over a three-years, he made just 16 appearances before his 6-figure sale.

However after skipping between counties in the past two days, Boertien made his debut in County’s 2-1 defeat against Swindon Town yesterday where he emerged as a skilful defender with more than his fair share of pace and poise.

Paul, number 28 in the squad listings, will remain at Meadow Lane until the 22nd of next month.
