When I heard the news it shook me to the core I had been to the 1 day international at Trent Bridge was surfing the sports news when I got back and saw the headline. I clicked and read in utter shock and disbelief, I was numb and welling up with tears. Apparently Dennis Thatcher had died as well, but hey he was 88 and had been in hospital ill, Foe was a 28 year old sportsmen a giant of a man...sometimes life is not fair.

As well as following Notts I have a soft spot for West Ham and have watched them when possible over the last 20 years, I actually met Foe in the car park at Upton Park before a home game a few years ago, where he was signing autographs for the usual hordes on matchday.

I actually waited and got my programme signed.I dug out that programme last night at about midnight West Ham v Blackburn Rovers 27/2/99 and thought about that man, that huge man...a gentle giant as Harry Redknapp once described him...no longer with us. Thierry Henry last night dedicated the french goal to Marc-Vivien Foe along with that i would like to send condolences to Foe's family from all fans of Notts County.
