The recently appointed chairman re-acquainted himself with the new manager Thordarson following the Press Conference this morning before talking to NCM upon the club’s latest acquisition.

Satisfied with the club’s decision, the Chairman remains positive that appointing an experienced head in the form of Thordarson was the ‘proper’ way to take this club forward.

"I was under no illusions that we had to get this right. We made it quite clear that we wanted someone with experience," said Thompson, speaking to Notts County MAD’s Rob Davies earlier today.

Gudjon: The Iceman, himself
"If you want someone with experience, then you’ll have to do your homework on them to make sure that they have sufficient experience, and likewise they’ll want to look at you, and I can assure you that Gudjon (Thordarson) has had a very good, long look at the club.

"We interviewed a week last Thursday and we’ve been speaking to Gudjon since, making sure that both sides have a deal they’re happy with.

"Gudjon was the outstanding candidate from those who did apply, and he’s been offered the job and taken it."

In answer to NCM questioning the decision to hand the Icelandic manager a three-year deal as opposed to a shorter-term deal, Thompson remained unwavering upon the club’s decision.

"Obviously, it’s not appropriate to go into the terms of that contract, but we’re happy with the way that contract will be performed and I, as a lawyer, and as lawyer for the club have made sure that the club is protected in every way possible."
