The White flag is waving - Relegation dooms

County fans thought that if tonight Notts didn't win, they might as well wave the white flag.

Gabbiadini breaks the deadline
And the game started off terribly. Notts were a bag of nerves and it was shown. Marco Gabbiadini picked up on some awful defensive errors and slotted the ball in the back of the net to give the Cobblers the lead.

The Cobblers then continued to dominate, Notts couldn't get hold of the ball and couldn't string passes together. Garden was the busier of the two keepers - Parkin misses a free kick and Gabbiadini is running rings and making the Notts look defence looked like lost sheep.

At the interval Notts County went behind one nil and they could have come back into the match. They didn't because things went from bad to worse.

In the second half Northampton had a penalty, Ian Richardson brung down Marco Gabbiadini in the area and he recieves a yellow card. Jamie Forrester stepped up and scores confidently. Notts County are staring relegation in the face, they are behind against Northampton Town fellow companions in destress. 2-0 to the Cobblers, the white flag is waving.

Forrester grabs two
Surely, things could only get better, THEY DIDN'T, they got worse, the Notts performance was a complete and utter shambals, and how many times has that been said this season? The next incident was to knock the final nail in Notts County's coffin. Nicky Fenton brought down Marco Gabbiadini in the area and Fenton was sent off - he was the last man. Forrester stepped up and slotted the ball in the net, same sport, same place - No messing. It was a disaster at Meadow Lane.

It's a terrible baptism of fire for Manager Bill Dearden he loses his fourth consecutive Notts County game. But it's not him to blame surely - get a complete revamp in the playing staff and quick otherwise we are destined for Division three. It's unreal, but it's true.

Final Score - Magpies 0-3 Cobblers
