Stockport County 1 Notts. County 1

Both sides had to settle for a share of the spoils after a dismal second half at Edgeley Park.

It was the visiting County who made the brighter start, and just four minutes in Michael Edwards was unlucky when his looping 20-yard shot bounced out off the Stockport crossbar.

The home side then went close through Harpal Singh, but it was Notts who took a fortunate lead on 14 minutes. Ashley Williams played a tentative pass back to James Spencer, but the Stockport goalkeeper could only fire a clearance against the onrushing Steve Scoffham and the ball rebounded into goal via a deflection off the shell-shocked Williams.

The home side levelled on 35 minutes, however, as Jermaine Easter slotted home his third goal of the season after latching on to Singh's through-ball.

The visitors should have been awarded a spot-kick on the stroke of the interval, but referee Mr Lewis waved away loud appeals after goalkeeper Spencer looked to have clearly pushed Gavin Gordon in the box.

The best opportunity of the second 45 minutes fell to Easter for Stockport after his acrobatic low volley was superbly blocked on the line by Notts goalkeeper Kevin Pilkington with 15 minutes to go.
