Danny Allsopp - Involved In Both Notts Goals
Notts had a early scare on 4 minutes, when a shot from Steven McPhee thundered off the post and bounced to safety, the signs were on the wall it was going to be a battle for Notts.

Sure enough, 2 minutes later Notts were behind. A free kick was swung towards the far post and Brett Angell swooped to head the ball home, another set piece Notts have conceeded from.

Notts given Mark Goodlad nothing to do in the Vale goal, but The Magpies got level on 25 minutes through Paul Bolland. Bolland was first to react after
Goodlad couldn't hold Danny Allsopp's shot.

Notts had a few half chances after that, followed by a flurry of corners, but it remained 1-1 at the turn around.

The Magpies started the 2nd half just how Billy Dearden would have wanted, with Notts taking the lead. Mark Stallard ran through the Vale defence, and after rounding the keeper he let Allsopp do the rest and put Notts infront.

Notts could have had a third soon after, and no doubt if the ball had gone in the net, it would have been Notts' goal of the season. Mark Stallard went on a mazy run, and split the Vale defence apart and ran all the way through before his shot went over the bar by a matter on inches.

Billy Paynter got Vale level on the hour, Marc Bridge-Wilkinson played a superb ball through to the youngster, who cooly slotted past Garden to level the scores once more.

Stuart Garden - Beaten Again
Neither side had an real chances after that, before Vale hit the winner on 81. A stinging drive from Cummins was pushed up in the air by Garden, and Angell rose above the Notts keeper to give Vale all 3 points.

Try as they might, Notts were never going to get a leveller, and Boss Billy Dearden has some huge decisions to make on Saturday after saying he will shake things up.
