Notts stop the rot with a hard earned point

Worked well
County started off brightly and Tony Hackworth worked his socks off as did Paul Bolland in a superb first half display.

Notts' first real scoring opportunity came from Set Piece Specialist Darren Caskey. His shot curled round the wall but could not elude Neil Cutler from making an error.

Danny Allsopp was the only player for me who didn't give it his all. His head was low and his determination wasn't has high as the other players, he missed two good first half chances.

Midway through the first half Ian Baraclough nearly embarrassed himself asfter he nearly scored an own goal. he was meant to head the ball back to Garden but the ball sailed past him and thankfully hit the woodwork.

But it was the woodwork that denied Notts later on in the first half. Richard Liburd's shot hit the cross bar and the post and then came out after some good work from Caskey.

Notts carried on to be defensively sound and both Ireland and Warren looked solid despite having to mark two very pacey Stoke City forwards.

In the second half Stoke tried to hit County on the Counter attack and started to press. They hit chance after chance, but the Notts defence held well.

Tony Hackworth made runs in the second half but couldn't quite make them, he just failed to have that extra yard of pace.

Caskey
Darren Caskey, was brought off. This was a strange decision because he linked most of the balls along with paul Bolland who was winning everything on the floor. Caskey was replaced by Owers who surprisngly did very well.

But it was Garden who saved the point for Notts after he made one fantastic save in the second half tipping over a header from the huge defender Shtanuik.

Notts and Stoke continued to attack and continued to create chance after chace, both teams in this encounter lacked a lethal goal poacher. But it was a very pleasing display for Notts and they kept to their tempo. If they play like this every game from now till the Huddersfield game, their status in Division two will be safe.
