Butcher comes to rescue

Lee Butcher saved Jeff Hughes' 93rd-minute penalty as Notts County lost 2-1 to Leyton Orient at Meadow Lane.

It was not a good day for the Magpies midfielder, whose mistake had led to Orient's opener.

A minute from the break, Hughes gave the ball away just outside the area and failed to win it back, allowing Dawson to chip the ball over Nelson.

After dominating the second half, County were caught out five minutes from time as another defensive error, from Mike Edwards, let in Adam Mooney, and he fed Jonathan Tehoue who eventually beat Nelson.

Within seconds though, County halved the deficit as Jeff Hughes played in namesake Lee, and he fired home.

And the Magpies had the chance to snatch a deserved point when Leon McSweeney fouled Jeff Hughes and was sent off, but Butcher guessed the right way to earn his side victory.
