Notts 0 - 1 Hereford

A late goal from Hereford's Gary Sill's was enough to dent Notts County's play-off hopes last night at Meadow Lane. Sill's header nine minutes from time gave the Bull's their first league win in five.

Stuart Fleetwood created the goal chasing down what looked like a lost cause, until an error by left-back Austin McCann allowed Fleetwood to whip in a cross. The ball in deceived keeper Deeney leaving Sill's to head into an open net.

It could have been more for the visitor's who had a penalty claimed dismissed after Magpie's Captain Alan White seemed to handle the ball. Referee, Rob Lewis waved play on.

Equally, Notts applied some heavy pressure late on with striker Lawrie Dudfield having his effort ruled out for offside. County striker also saw his last minute effort saved by Hereford goalie Wayne Brown.

The Magpie's will see this as three points dropped in their march to the

play-off's. County never really found their stride. Until late on they never looked like scoring and an in-balanced midfield will have to be looked at by boss Steve Thompson if he is to see his side's form improve over Christmas.

In fairness, the points perhaps should have been shared but a third consecutive home defeat may be exactly the wake-up call Notts need to get their season running again.
