Match Ratings...Vs Cheltenham Town

(6 Average)

Saul Deeney- 7, One of the few that could say he did his job- as the clean sheet proves. Made a number of decent stops and dealt with corners effectively.

Julian Baudet- 6, One of his poorer displays, but that is to be expected considering he played in THREE different positions during the game. Started on the right of a back three, before performing well in midfield, before being moved back again. Ludicrous.

Mike Whitlow- 5, Poor. Based on his start for the club, it seems unbelievable that he has been handed a two-year deal and immediate captaincy at the club. Was constantly beaten both in the air and on the deck, before being taken off early in the second half.

Ian Richardson- 8, Star man. As Mills has said, had it not been for Richo, we wouldn't have even got a point. Produced a tremendous goal-line clearence and won countless crucial tackles and aerial battles. Was also the only member of the playing or backroom staff to applaud the fans at the finish. Should be re-instated as captain.

Kelvin Wilson- 7, Can be reasonably pleased with his first home start of the season. Looked uncomfortable as a wing back (Why start 3-5-2 Mills?), but settled down when moved to the right of the back four. Looks a fine prospect.

Matty Gill- 4, Where'd you start? It's hard to believe Mills actually saw videos of players like him before signing them. Was never in the game, doesn't look good enough and is simply no better, if not worse, then what we released in the summer.

Paul Bolland- 5, It shows how bad we've become when Bolland was actually one of our major attacking threats, especially in the second half. Despite this, never really got in the game and his passing was, again, woeful.

Tony Scully- 6, Another victim of Mills' insistence on starting a game with a 3-5-2 formation. Looks comfortable on the wing and was still our biggest threat, but by the end, didn't look like he knew where he was playing.

Rob Ullathorne- 7, Steady. Would be even better if he was allowed to play in his position, as a left full-back, for 90 minutes. Came extremely close to nicking an undeserved winner at the end with a well-struck right footed shot that came back off the post. One of the better ones.

Gavin Gordon- 4, Dire. Is he really supposed to be a targetman? Did Mills really think him and Hurst would fire us out of this Division? Barely touched the ball, and looked very unfit. Instant improvement needed.

Matty Williams- 6, Provided a threat all game and showed some neat touches. His game, however, will be remembered for him missing the two chances Notts did create, skying one over the bar and slicing the other horribly. Deserves to keep his place, however, and surely a goal will come soon.

Subs

Shaun Harrad (Gill, 49)- 5, Brought on to provide width and pace down the right, but never got any joy out of the Robins' left back. Doesn't appear to have progressed greatly.

Mike Edwards (Whitlow, 56)- 7, Steady Eddie enjoyed one of his best games when he came on. Will expect to be back into the starting line-up next game.

Fahrudin Kuduzovi (Wilson 65)- 6, Only came on due to an injury to Wilson, but gave a decent enough debut. Unlike others, was always looking for the ball and passed the ball well. Should be kept on.

Not Used: Mildenhall, Hurst.

More reaction, what went wrong etc, still to come on NCM.
