A spirited second-half comeback saw Notts County put an end to Macclesfield Town's sparkling home form.

Undefeated in nine games at fortress Moss Rose since Brian Horton took ever last spring, Macc had appeared to be cruising to another home win.

They had taken the lead on 17 minutes when their man mountain striker Jon Parkin had latched on to a quick throw from Paul Harsley. He muscled Mike Whitlow off the ball before burying a drive from ten yards for his seventh of the season.

Macclesfield might have added another ten minutes later when Graham Potter's free-kick crunched off the foot of the upright. But the Magpies also had their chances, Gavin Gordon clipping a shot on the turn off the top of the crossbar.

They scored the equaliser after 66 minutes when former Chesterfield striker Glynn Hurst met a Rob Ullathorne cross with a powerful header.

Keeper Alan Fettis made a spectacular save, but Hurst was first to the rebound to slot home from close range.

The home side poured forward looking to regain the lead and young centre-back Mike Briscoe was desperately unlucky when a close-range header was cleared off the line by Kelvin Wilson.

Moments later, Hurst shrugged of Briscoe's challenge at the other end before dummying Fettis to smash home his second of the game and the Magpies' winner.
