Bournemouth goalkeeper Shwan Jalal played a hero's part in enabling the Cherries to give new manager Jimmy Quinn a draw from his first league match in charge.

Top stopper: Jalal pulled off two outstanding saves...
Jalal pulled off two world-class saves, one in either half, otherwise Notts County's free-flowing football would surely have gained them their first league victory of the season.

Jamie Forrester, fed by Jay Smith, had already given County the lead on 12 minutes with his first goal at Meadow Lane since arriving from Lincoln.

Even before that Richard Butcher spurned a great chance from six yards by teeing the ball into the arms of Jalal from whom the best was to be seen on 24 minutes.

The dangerous left-sided midfielder Myles Weston unleashed a great shot which was heading for the top right-hand corner until Jalal got a hand to it and turned it over for a corner.

His second great stop came on 65 minutes, the best moment Notts County had to clinch all three points.
Fine finish: Forrester scored his second of the campaign...

However, this time at point-blank range, Jalal frustrated Notts County skipper Michael Edwards.

From the corner Butcher seemed certain to register his fourth goal of the campaign, but the experienced Darren Anderton was on the line to hook it away.

Notts County, who had a purple 20-minute patch in the first half, were never as menacing again and Bournemouth, in the end, deserved to become the third visiting team to take a point from Meadow Lane.

County lost veteran central defender Michael Johnson late on to injury and the club is waiting to see how serious this turns out to be.
