Fans witness biggest win of the season
The game started off with Notts being their usual boring, unmotivated, anonymous movement and passing ability being left in the dressing room team. But on 14 minutes County made the simplest of moves count. Paul Heffernen was set loose down the left hand side and he twisted and turned the Rovers defence and he then picked out fellow striker Danny Allsopp who chipped the ball into the back of the net to give County a shock lead.

There was a protest over the goal and the chief protester was Rovers' solid defender Clint Hill. He recieved a red card for arguing about the challenge and Rovers clearly lacked his presence.

Then the referee was brandishing yellow cards left, right and centre. Mr Ryan booked three Rovers players as the game got a little out of hand. County fans tormented the Rovers supporters by chanting "Same old Scousers always cheating "

Allsopp's second goal
After the lead the question was can County hold on to this. They did and they doubled their lead. A superb move down the left hand channel combining a one-two with Baraclough and Liburd found an unmarked Aussie in the area, his looping header drifted into the back of the net to give Notts a 2-0 advantage.

Midway through the first half Stuart Garden physically shown the fans why he should remain no.1 goalkeeper. A splendid save with his feet disabled Rovers from pulling one back.

Notts started to play some good balls and for once, their was more than one option to pass too. Movement was extremely good and effective and Darren Caskey was linking some good passes.

Seven minutes after the first goal Notts were gifted a third goal and Danny Allsopp's second hat trick of the season. This was probably his pick of the bunch when he chipped the ball from outside the area over the Rovers goalkeeper Archterberg.

I have never heard it being sung this season but the Notts County choir chanted out "it's just like watching Juve", well not quite but it was certainly a very good first half performance with Lady Luck playing for the home team. Some people would call lady luck the referee but that is debatable.

In the second half County were content to settle for the three goals. Tranmere never really stepped up a gere because they thought that the game was already won and really with ten men they needed a miracle.

But in the second half it was Rovers who were probably the better team. Jason Koumas, his skill and flair teased the Notts defence and he caused County problems throughout.

Outstanding
But thrughout the whole game it was Stuart Garden who prevented the visitors from scoring. He saved Craig Ireland from making a fool out of himeslf in the second half and he pulled off three magnificant saves.

We played alot better than in recent weeks, in the second half we passes and we moved and for some time we kept posession of the ball - quality.

And when the final whistle blew, sighs of joy were cried out from Magpies supporters in what is theirfirst win since Cambridge, and that seems ages ago.

Many people are saying this result still wont save them from the drop but if they can carry on this sort of form then who knows?
