Stalemate at Meadow Lane

Exeter and Notts County had to settle for a point each as they played out a 1-1 draw at St James' Park in a game of few chances.

County dominated the first half, but it was the Grecians that struck first on eight minutes. Billy Jones' cross was headed down by Troy Archibald-Henville and Alan Sheehan could only divert the ball into his own net.

However, it took only eight minutes for County to respond as Ben Burgess made the most of some sloppy Exeter defending to slide the ball past Lenny Pidgeley from 15 yards.

David Noble's free-kick was superbly saved by Stuart Nelson and substitute Jimmy Keohane skied high for Exeter in the second half, while Neal Bishop saw his header come back off the crossbar for County.

Grecians substitute Rowan Vine had a glorious chance to win it late on, but he stumbled when through on goal and Chris Shephard twice failed to make contact from Steve Tully crosses when well placed in front of goal.
