County hit the town - Hucknall 1-2 Notts County

Half the fans their at Watnall Road were County fans and Luke Dimech, Anthony Fenton and former Bristol Rovers player Steve Foster all had a slice of the action tonight.

Danny Allsopp had to take trip back home to Melbourne tonight to detail with some personal problems.

Notts played some good football at times, the main playmaker was Luke Dimech who in the second half dominated the midfield.

Notts started off with the team below in the first half:

Luke Dimech didn't look comfortable at right back but soon did better in the second half when he was in the centre of midfield. He is a similar player to Caskey though and Dimech liked playing the through ball between the opposing full back and centre back.

Fenton was at the heart of the defence alongside Ireland and he did fairly well. He is a similar player to his brother.

The first goal came from Baraclough after Marcel Cas hit the ball at goal and it was blocked by a Town defender only for Baraclough to hit the ball home from 12 yards.

Hucknall played a sweet move down the left hand channel when the Town winger wipped in a cross and it met the head of Michael McLarnon who powered the header past garden to make the Friendly tie back on level terms.

In the second half the team looked like this:

Dimech moved into the centre and looked a different player, winning the ball much more, but he did give it away a few times, his passes though were extremely creative.

Steve Foster came on and he looked solid and strong and commanded the defence well.

The second goal for Notts was the best move of the match, down the right hand channel involving a one two with Liburd and the ball was swept in for Bolland to bury ther ball into the back of the net.

Mildenhall made a mess of a cross after he failed to claim the ball after trying to catch it, luckily he was saved by Foster.

People don't usually look into friendlies too much as they are just a fitness boost and perhaps a to see a couple of trialists also. But Notts played some decent stuff at times, some sloppy defending though, especially on the goal we conceeded. But we did play some nice attacking football in the first and second half at times. So Bring on the Town! (Ilkeston that is).
