Cornish Stroll for Notts

Notts enjoyed a good pre-season workout in their first game in their tour of Cornwall.

County came up against a good solid Porthleven team full of determination; Notts were made to fight all the way in this encounter. The Notts side looked like this:

It was a scrappy start, which saw Craig Ireland going off injured in the first couple of minutes. After a long delay Notts created a few half chances. Allsopp headed over also Failed to score from a far post chance.

On 22 minutes Porthleven had a goal disallowed for offside, then virtually from the kick off Notts took the lead.

Out of nothing Mark Stallard produced a fantastic chip from 25 yards which flew into the top corner which the keeper never saw.

Notts nearly scored again straight from kick off a good more which ended with Heffernan hitting weakly at the keeper.

However it was soon 2-0

Allsopp
An Ian Baraclough corner was hit back across goal for Danny Allsopp to power a header in at the far post.

Porthleven never gave up and had a good chance with Mildenhall producing a good save from close range.

Halftime – Porthleven 0-2 Notts County

Notts extended their lead 5 minutes into the second half. A good five man move was finished of by Paul Bolland who continued his good pre season scoring form.

Soon after from a corner Notts had another goal disallowed Danny Stone heading home but pulled up for pushing.

Porthleven then produced the move of the match, a thirteen pass move ripped Notts apart. The end result was a fine chance for Luke Hodge after Mildehall had parried the first effort, but the striker blazed over from 8 yards.

68 minutes saw a great individual bit of skill from Paul Bolland controlling a long ball he kept the ball up with a few touches before volleying a super strike which came back off the bar, Allsopp blasted the rebound over.

The last twenty minutes passed by without much incident but Heffernan nearly scored at the death with a near post shot.
