Notts County continued their mini-revival under manager Gary Mills as they grabbed all three points against fellow relegation strugglers Brentford with a 3-2 win at Griffin Park.

On a freezing cold afternoon in south London the game started brightly with both teams knowing that only a win would be good enough in this relegation zone six-pointer.

Notts County had the majority of the possession from the kick-off and it was no surprise when, after just 12 minutes, they took the lead through their captain Ian Richardson, who headed home Darren Caskey's corner at the far post.

The home side, stung into action, equalised just four minutes later through winger Stephan Evans who blasted the ball into the bottom corner of the net from just inside the box as Notts County defenders failed to clear their lines.

Eddie Hutchinson extended the home side's lead five minutes before the break when he intercepted a poor headed clearance from Tony Barras on the touchline.

The midfielder sent a superb looping header of his own from a very tight angle over the outstretched arm of Stuart Garden, under the cross bar and into the back of the net.

The score line could have been so very different were the visitors not guilty of missing some excellent chances.

As the game progressed the home side started to get their game together and, at times, threatened to play Notts County off of the park with their slick passing.

The visitors refused to lie down and got themselves level on midway through the second half when Simon Baldry slid the ball through to Paul Heffernan who fired home from close range.

Second half substitute Tony Scully secured all three points for the visitors when he drilled the ball home with just minutes to go with his first goal for the club.
