Brentford 2-1 Notts County - Final Score

Last updated : 23 February 2002 By Mark Stevenson
Bright start from Brentford and they are dominating play. An early shot from Steven Sedwell shook the Notts defence on 5 minutes.

An extremely scrappy start here at Griffin Park. Paul Evans is having a good game in the early stages. County are just trying to win posession.

On 16 minutes Allsopp has a shot which is saved by Brentford's Paul Smith.

Garden is the busier of the two keepers having to save two early shots from The Bee's.

Head tennis is starting to evolve in patches as both teams are trying to win the ball.

Caskey has been brandished a yellow card. And a free kick was taken by Evans and he just missed the target on 24 minutes.

It's a huge goal drought for Allsopp
Anderson gave the ball away to Allsopp in the area and allsopp was on a one on one with the goalkeeper. The Austrailan chipped it over the bar.

So far Brentford have had 15 attempts on goal. How long will it continue to be 0-0. Notts meanwhile missed a very good chance with Danny Allsopp.

Apparently we are the worst team at Griffin Park so far this season. As half time approaches.

Half Time: Bees 0-0 Magpies

We are playing our usual poor football. Brentford have had the better of the opportunites. Not a great deal in the Notts goal for Garden to do and that is because of the poor finishing that the Bees have shown. But Notts will be satisfied at half time with this result. Brentford could have been 8-0 up if they would have taken their chances.

Second Half:-

Stuart Garden has been kept on his toes this second half. Early shots from Brentford have kept the Scotsman busy.

Notts just keep clearing the ball instead of keeping it as we are eight minutes into the action.

Notts win a free kick but it becomes open play. County seem to be playing better than in the first half. But It's still scoreless here in London.

Caskey - The saviour
Owers built up the play in the centre of the park. Nicholson then scurried down the right hand side and he put in a cross to the back post for Darren Caskey and he simply put the ball in the back of then net.

Corner to County to be taken by Nicholson, a high corner and Evans picks up the ball and he tries to hit Notts on the Counter attack. The Notts defence have been good today in this shock tie.

Well it isn't shock anymore. Ian Baraclough's dreadful week continued, when he was accused to of handballed in the area. The Danagerman Paul Evans stepped up and he striked the ball in the back of the net with the upmost venom.

It's happened again, in the ninetieth minute County have lost, history repeats itself. Ben Burgess makes it 2-1.

It's happened again.  County have been stung and once more that is one massive nail in the Notts County Relegation Coffin.
