Danny Allsopp
Danny Allsopp ended his poor scoring form with a goal over Mid tablers Colchester United. It was Danny Allsopp who brought Notts back on terms after great work from Paul Heffernen. That goal cancelled out a 37th minute lead for the visitors. They produced that goal from their second corner of the game, taken on the left hand side of the Meadow Lane end. And , when Notts didn't get the ball clear properly it was headed through by the big central defender Andrew White.

Notts were nearly in the lead on twenty minutes. Danny Allsopp serving up notice that he might get a goal in this one.

Superb saves from the Scottsman
Stuart Garden made two fantastic saves throughout the match. One in the first half and one in the second.

Notts themselves had two good chances. Craig Ireland headed over from a corner. And then two minutes from the end of normal time, Danny Allsopp might have clinched it. the big Aussie might have given Billy Dearden his first win at Meadow Lane and also Notts' fans their first win at home of 2002. But a great volley, viciously driven in by Allsopp was too straight. And the ball went into the arms of Simon Brown, who from Colchester's point of view was greatful to make the save.

It was the smallest Meadow Lane crowd of the season, this is significant because their is so much swirling about at Notts and they need every penny they can get on a night when their was a higher attendence at third divisioners Field Mill to see their win over Halifax Town.

Here though, 3140 attended. Notts County will have to be satisfied with a point. And they need every point they can get aswell as every pound hey can get.

Meadow Lane
The point tonight wasn't suffiencent by any means to ease those those Relgation dreaded fears. Notts 1-1 Colchester.
