After thousands of pounds worth of valuables – including wallets, phones, jewellery and an iPod – were pilfered from County’s dressing room last month, Mansfield Town Football Club and the local Constabulary have been investigating the incident which was believed to have upset the Notts players, even despite their derby day triumph.

About a dozen of the squad lost valuables, believed to have amounted to thousands of pounds.

The goods were taken during the players’ post-match warm down following the 3-2 win over the Stags last month, with a negligent stewardship blamed after it was believed that one of the home sides’ stewards left his post, thus allowing the thief to strike.

However, police have confirmed that the arrest of a 17-year old earlier this week is indeed connected with the lootings, as Police continue their investigation.

Meanwhile, Mansfield Chairman Keith Haslam is believed to be continuing his internal investigation, regardless of the youngster’s arrest.
