Charlie McParland was named as Steve Thompson's successor on Thursday - just two days after Thompson was showed the door.

And in a poll set up on NCM immediately after Thompson's reign came to such a tumultuous end saw McParland lead your votes for who you wanted as the new manager.

The former player picked up 65 of the tremendous 158 votes, giving him a 41% majority.

Second in line was former Leicester City man Martin Allen, who is a name being popularly linked with other vacant positions at the moment such as Norwich City, Gillingham and Lincoln City.

'Mad Dog' polled 53 votes, giving him 33.5%

Allen and McParland were by far and away the candidates taken seriously by Notts fans, with third placed Burton Albion boss Nigel Clough recieveing just 15 votes with 9.5%.

A name not amongst the list that also included Keith Alexander, Peter Jackson, John Schofield and John Gannon came fourth with seven votes.

Alexander got six fans backing him with Jackson five, Gannon four and Schofield just three.
