Winger out for three weeks

In-form winger Matthew Hamshaw has been sidelined for around three weeks with a hamstring injury.

Fears were initially raised when the right-sided midfielder was withdrawn from the action in the 2-0 loss to Bury on Tuesday.

Speaking to the club's official website, Ian McParland expressed his disappointment at the news.

He said: "It's bitterly frustrating to lose Matt especially given the form he was in going into Saturday's game.

"He's going to be out for around three weeks and he will be a big loss for us there's no hiding away from that fact.

"But we have players who can come into the side and stake their claim, so despite losing Matt we don't want to paint a picture of doom and gloom."

The void was filled by Myles Weston at Gigg Lane with Jonathan Forte occupying the left flank.

Ben Fairclough and Richard Butcher have also performed out wide in the past, meaning that there are several options available.
