The former Manchester United man, who was hailed by Fergie himself during his Old Trafford days as a potential star, was allowed a fortnight’s leave on the grounds of ‘personal matters’ believed to be family problems and has since been absent from action.

Williams has made just nine starts since trading the ‘Theatre of Dreams’ for the more humble Meadow Lane, and is yet to find the net. The Welsh under-21 international has been exempt from the side since the cup defeat at West Hame, after it was rumoured that the 22-year old clashed with former assistant manager, Darren Gee over matters unknown earlier this season.

Meanwhile, it was reported today in the ever-reliable daily star that Kelvin Wilson is being tracked by Premiership champions, Arsenal. The London club are said to be keen to pursue the young full-backs signature and are monitoring his progress.
