Will we? Won't we?

NCM broke the news earlier this morning that the player in question, Worksop Town’s Brian O’Callaghan was poised to sign for the club.

Since then, there has been a flurry of reports of a somewhat contradictory nature that suggest either the club have or definitely have not clinched the 24-year old’s services.

Little Tyke: Brian O'Callaghan
Whilst the Nottingham Evening Post and the official site of Worksop Town FC have both confirmed such rumours, Gudjon himself has moved swiftly to quash such rumours.

"It is rubbish. We have not signed Brian," told the recently-installed Magpies boss, speaking to the club’s official site earlier today.

"I worked with him at Barnsley and did have him over in Iceland when I was in charge at Keflavik FC, and I know he is looking to try to make it again in English football."

"He played for Worksop last season too, but it is rubbish. I think because he has played with me before people link him to us."

"Obviously I know about Brian, but there is certainly nothing to report in terms of signing the player," he added.

Whilst word has come straight from the horses’ mouth, as it were, to overturn such reports, it would be foolish to believe that there was no smoke without fire and that both the Worksop site and the NEP have based their news completely on hearsay.

If such rumours are true, however, then the former Ireland under-21 midfielder’s capture could prove the end of a month-long stand-off from Gudjon in the transfer market.

Regardless of the accuracy of the story, be sure that NCM will keep you bang up to date with all the news from the club over the close season.
