Wilko rules himself out of managerial hunt

Speculation has been rife at Meadow Lane ever since Wilkinson was appointed in an advisory capacity for current boss Ian Richardson - whose contract expires at the end of the season - that the experienced former Leeds, Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday boss was lined-up to manage The Magpies' for the second time.

But Wilkinson - who managed Notts over 20 years ago in the early 1980s - has always insisted that he has no intention of managing the club, and stated this again earlier today.

"People seem to be hearing but not listening," Wilkinson told BBC Radio Nottingham.

"I have no aspirations at all to be manager of Notts County. My ambition when I came here was to help rebuild the club."

The 60-year-old former England under-21 boss has, however, been more involved with the on-the-pitch side of things at the club in the past week, taking training sessions on both Thursday and Friday.
