History:
The winger born in Holland of Surinamese descent was the third player from the continent to arrive this summer at Notts, scoring his first goal, a curled effort - in the 9-0 drubbing of Rolls Royce Leisure.
The former AZ Alkmaar youth-teamer made his breakthrough and professional debut for Vitesse in the 2008-09 season playing alongside former Manchester United left-back Alex Buttner, Norwich flop (but Sporting Lisbon success) Ricky van Wolfswinkel and none other than another of Notts’ new recruits Julian Jenner. Snijders made 2 appearances at the age of 19 in his debut season. It was the season afterwards which saw Snijders see more game time, making 6 appearances for Vitesse before being loaned out to 2nd division side Almere City. He returned to Vitesse the following season making 15 appearances in the Dutch top flight.
Snijders first top flight goal eluded him until his move to fellow Eredivisie team Willem II, a loan turn permanent and registered his first Eredivisie against Ajax (in the video below at 3:23)
Genaro started 21 times in 46 appearances in the Dutch top flight for Vitesse and Willem II, scoring 2 goals. He then moved to 2nd division Dordrecht, and in the 2013-14 season, he played in the play-offs and helped get Dordrecht promoted to the Eredivisie. Snijders played last season at FC Oss, again helping his side reach the play-offs – appearing in 27 games, starting in 13 and scoring 3 times - although this time his side lost at the first stage of the play-offs.
The right-footed winger will be hoping to cement his place in the starting 11 and hope he can replicate the trickery seen in the video above in the coming season.
