Weir-Daley on pole

Last updated : 21 July 2007 By Gary Moss

New Magpies signing Spencer Weir-Daley has topped this weeks NCM poll as the most promising signing in League Two.

The 22-year old front man fought off tough competition from other top summer arrivals such as Kevin Gallen at MK Dons, Jack Lester joining Chesterfield and Posh duo Chris Westwood and Dean Keates.

Despite these strong 'proven' League Two names, Weir-Daley scoops the tag
as the divisions brightest incoming man.

Weir-Daley: Move across the Trent welcomed
Weir-Daley signed for County from arch rivals Forest last month despite being offered an extended deal at the City Ground.

His move across the Trent in search of first team football has proved a real hit with Notts followers, fast becoming a fans favourite since signing for the stripes.

But, with a limited amount of consistent Football League experience and his first team jersey not yet guaranteed under Thommo, the pressure will be on the striker from the off.

With optimism high amongst Magpie's fans as the new season approaches, it is no real surprise to see Weir-Daley top this weeks chart with a healthy 48% of the votes.

Whether, the young Notts marksman will really deliver is subject to the test of time, but he will have to find his form quickly to match the expectations of his admiring fans.
