Update: Notts miss out on duo

Thordarson had made an ambitious swoop for former Sheffield Wednesday striker Guylain Ndumbu-Nsungu, with the County boss looking to snatch the striker ahead of Saturday’s game, ironically, against Darlington - the club he left this week.

Boertien: A class act
The striker had been in hot form of late, netting ten times in eleven starts, but has instead opted to join Championship high-fliers Cardiff City.

Further to the seemingly done-and-dusted signing of Ndumbu-Nsungu comes another bitter blow for the club, as Notts today learned that they have lost out on former loanee Paul Boertien.

Boertien, now 26, was - as exclusively revealed on NCM - set to sign for the club, on loan, earlier today before his parent club, Derby County pulled the plug on the deal.

Speaking to the official site earlier today, a disappointed Thordarson said: "We had more or less agreed a deal with Derby County yesterday afternoon to bring the lad here, and I expected him in here this morning,"

"But, it was then pulled back. The thing is with loan players, the Club they are coming from still own them and can do whatever they want."

And despite the deal having been cancelled, Gudjon remains confident that all can be resolved, and his signing secured early next week.

"Hopefully this can all be resolved, and hopefully next week we can have him in here with us," he added.
