The return: Newton played joined County on loan eight years ago...
Two more players have been linked with Notts County today, with Adam Newton and Richard Walker both mentioned.

Notts and Conference outfit Oxford United appear to be the two sides hoping to secure Newton's signature, after he was told he could leave by Peterborough United.

"Notts County and Oxford are interested in Adam," explained Barry Fry, speaking to the Peterborough Evening Telegraph.

"He wants to stay in the league, but Oxford can pay higher wages so it will be up to him what he does."

The 28-year old full back had a brief spell with County in 2000, when he joined on loan from West Ham United. He made 20 appearances, scoring one goal.

Walker, 30, currently has one year remaining on his current deal with Bristol Rovers, but the Pirates' boss, Paul Trollope is willing to let the striker leave so that he can bring in fresh faces.

Notts face a battle to capture the front-man, who netted 23 times throughout the 2006/2007 campaign, with Shrewsbury Town and Gillingham both trying to sign him.
