Just seven days after the club released a statement of announcing that a new manager will be appointed, the Notts County board have already been bombarded with applications for the soon to be vacant manager’s post.
|
The Magpies posted the vacancy upon the League Manager’s Association web-site in the hunt for applicants for the job, which will become vacant during the close season with, as we presume, current player-manager Ian Richardson returning to his former role as one of the club’s playing staff.
Yet whilst the board are keen to get a new man lined up before the end of the season, Steve Thompson – the Trust representative on the Meadow Lane board – acknowledges that it is a decision that must not be rushed.
Speaking to the Nottingham Evening Post earlier today, Thompson said: "We have to make sure we get the right man. We are not going to rush into this. We do not want to be doing the same thing in six months."
"We need to find the right man to make this club successful in the future."
With candidates for interview already being drawn up, Thompson admits that there have been some ‘interesting’ aspirants appearing upon a daily basis of late. Draw from that comment what you will.
"We need to make sure we get the right person to take it on. We will begin interviewing as soon as we possibly can."
"We need somebody with experience, the ability to work on a tight budget, and who can bring the best out of players."
With that in mind, we could well be staring the next new manager of Notts County Football Club dead in the eye come the end of the season. Interesting stuff, indeed.
